Nourie is clinically tested on the scalp and independently tested for the same contaminants the category is known for. Results below.

A "clinically tested" claim in this category usually means a patch of skin on a forearm or a back. A scalp under braid tension, covered for weeks, is a different exposure. We tested there.
Our protocol measured transepidermal water loss, inflammatory biomarkers, and standardized self-reported comfort, each against a PVC comparator.
In IRB-approved testing, comfort and barrier measurements moved together on the Nourie side. On the PVC side they did not. What wearers reported feeling corresponded to what their skin was doing.

Comfort and barrier response moved together on the Nourie side. On the PVC comparator they did not.

Study one. Repeat-exposure tolerance.
Nourie was non-irritating, non-sensitizing, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist-tested, with no adverse events across fifty-eight participants. The test was a five-week repeat-insult patch protocol, the standard for irritation and sensitization under repeated skin contact, completed in 2024.
Study two. Scalp response during braided wear.
Participants preferred Nourie two to one for comfort. The Nourie side lost less moisture. Self-reported comfort correlated with transepidermal water loss on the Nourie side, with statistical significance, and did not on the PVC side.
Those results come from a double-blind, controlled comparison run in 2024. Ten participants completed the protocol. Each wore Nourie on one side of her head and a leading PVC fiber on the other, with an unbraided section between as control. Measurements were taken at installation and on days 1, 3, and 7, with participants self-swabbing weekly for two further weeks.
Endpoints: transepidermal water loss for barrier function, IL-6 and IL-8 by ELISA for inflammation, 16S rRNA sequencing for the scalp microbiome, scalp imaging, and a standardized comfort questionnaire.

Tested for what the category keeps failing on.
Consumer Reports found carcinogens, heavy metals, or volatile organic compounds in every braiding hair product it tested in 2025 and 2026. We submitted Nourie fiber to SGS for the same categories, 75 analytes in total.
